Theme: Justice For Road Traffic Victims
Sub-Theme: We Do Not Want More Victims To Remember – We Want To Live Our Lives
On a solemn yet impactful day in Kampala, the Federation for Private Drivers Initiative (FPSDI) successfully led the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, bringing together communities, survivors, and key stakeholders under the global theme: Justice for Road Traffic Victims.
The sub-theme, “We Do Not Want More Victims To Remember – We Want To Live Our Lives,” echoed through every speech, activity, and moment of silence, reminding us all that every life lost on the road is one too many — and preventable.
A United Effort for Change
This year’s commemoration was not just an event — it was a call to action. FPSDI, in collaboration with committed partners, created a space to honour the lives lost, support affected families, and push for real change in road safety and justice systems.
Our sincere appreciation goes to our partners:
- KCCA
- Uganda Police
- Red Cross Uganda
- Youth Power Uganda
- Tembo Millers
- Kakie Organics
- Webcare Technologies
- Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety
Together, we stood with survivors and families to demand accountability, support, and stronger road safety enforcement.
Voices That Matter
The day featured testimonies from survivors and families of road crash victims. These stories were real, raw, and heartbreaking — but also full of hope. They fueled our shared demand for improved driver behavior, safer roads, better emergency response, and legal justice for victims.
Youth at the Frontline
Youth groups, including Youth Power Uganda and the Global Youth Coalition, played a critical role in mobilizing awareness and demanding action. Their energy, creativity, and boldness reminded everyone that the youth are not just victims of poor systems — they are drivers of change.
Beyond the Day – A Movement
As FPSDI, our work does not stop with commemoration. We are committed to:
- Continuous driver education
- Defensive driving training
- Support for victims’ families
- Advocating for fair treatment and justice
We don’t want to gather each year only to mourn — we want to live, drive, and thrive together.
To every family that has lost a loved one on the road, we stand with you. And to every driver out there — let’s drive like lives depend on it, because they do.
